Honest materials, careful hands, and a patient way of working.
Luxe Guitars is the work of builder Daniel DeMars, based in the Seattle, WA area. Dan was introduced to woodworking by his grandfather when he was a young boy, and it sparked a passion he has carried with him his whole life. He picked up the guitar in his teens, writing music and playing in bands around Rockford, Illinois. Building instruments is where those two threads meet.
He spent years inside the craft before putting his name on it: studying the luthier's trade, building and tearing down prototypes, voicing pickups against each other, and testing finishes until they held up. The sourcing took just as long. Woods are selected by weight and grain, boards are picked by hand, and hardware and electronics come from makers whose parts he trusts on his own instruments.
The collection on this site is the result. Each guitar was built without a customer waiting on it, so every decision, from the neck carve to the wiring, served the instrument alone. Dan sets up and plays each one before it is offered. A guitar leaves the workshop only when it plays like something he would keep.
